Azithromycin is a more popular choice than erythromycin in the treatment of dogs and cats because it has a longer half-life and is better absorbed by both species.

Colistin is a peptide antibiotic widely used as a food additive in animal farming, specially swine and poultry, and also has recently been applied in human medicine to treat infections caused by multiresistant gram-negative bacteria strains.

Fenbendazole

Fenbendazole is a medication used to treat a variety of parasites (e.g., roundworms, hookworms, lungworm, whipworm, and certain types of tapeworms) in small animals. Its use in small animals for the treatment of parasites is 'off label' or 'extra label'. 

Fenbendazole should be given with food to reduce gastrointestinal upset.

Norfloxacin Hydrochloride

Norfloxacin is a first generation fluoroquinolone that has been available for treatment of bacterial infections for many years, but which now has limited indications and is not commonly used. It is active against both gram-positive and gram-negative bacterium.

Norfloxacin is available by prescription only, meaning that you will need to obtain it through your veterinarian who will prescribe it "extra-label" to poultry kept as pets. Since this drug is a fluoroquinolone-class antibiotic, it is not approved for use in poultry that are not kept as pets.

Oxytetracycline (OTC) is a broad-spectrum antibiotic, frequently used in veterinary medicine for gastrointestinal and respiratory system diseases, for mainly aerobic microorganisms including Gram-positive/negative bacteria, Rickettsia, Mycoplasma, and Chlamydia species.

Oxytetracycline treatment applies to the following species:

Ponazuril is an antiprotozoal medication used to treat equine protozoal myeloencephalitis (EPM) caused by Sarcocystis neurona. It may also be used to treat other protozoal parasites such as Toxoplasma spp, coccidia, and Neospora caninum.

While it is labeled for use in horses, it is also used in cats, dogs, rabbits, birds, and reptiles to treat protozoal parasites ‘off label’ or ‘extra label’. Many drugs are commonly prescribed for off label use in veterinary medicine.

Salinomycine

Salinomycin (molecular formula, C42H70O11) is a monocarboxylic polyether antibiotic isolated from Streptomyces albus strain. The usage of salinomycin in veterinary medicine can be traced back to 1980s as a broad spectrum antimicrobial agent with activity against gram-positive bacteria, fungi, and parasites. Today, salinomycin is one of the most widely used coccidiostats in poultry in the top countries.

Spectinomycin Sulfate/Hcl

Spectinomycin is an aminocyclitol antibiotic used to treat susceptible strains of Neisseria gonorrhoeae. It is an antibiotic produced by Streptomyces spectabilis that is active against gram-negative bacteria and used for the treatment of gonorrhea.

Sulphadizine Sodium/Base

Sulfadiazine is a sulfonamide antibiotic. The sulfonamides are synthetic bacteriostatic antibiotics with a wide spectrum against most gram-positive and many gram-negative organisms. However, many strains of an individual species may be resistant. Sulfonamides inhibit multiplication of bacteria by acting as competitive inhibitors of p-aminobenzoic acid in the folic acid metabolism cycle. Bacterial sensitivity is the same for the various sulfonamides, and resistance to one sulfonamide indicates resistance to all. Most sulfonamides are readily absorbed orally. However, parenteral administration is difficult, since the soluble sulfonamide salts are highly alkaline and irritating to the tissues. The sulfonamides are widely distributed throughout all tissues. High levels are achieved in pleural, peritoneal, synovial, and ocular fluids. Although these drugs are no longer used to treat meningitis, CSF levels are high in meningeal infections. Their antibacterial action is inhibited by pus. Sulfadiazine is a competitive inhibitor of the bacterial enzyme dihydropteroate synthetase. This enzyme is needed for the proper processing of para-aminobenzoic acid (PABA) which is essential for folic acid synthesis. The inhibited reaction is necessary in these organisms for the synthesis of folic acid. Used for the treatment of rheumatic fever and meningococcal meningitis.

Tiamulin Fumarate

Tiamulin hydrogen fumarate is a semisynthetic derivative of pleuromutilin. Tiamulin is active against gram-positive bacteria, mycoplasmas, and anaerobes, including Brachyspira hyodysenteriae. It is also clinically effective in treatment of swine dysentery and mycoplasmal arthritis. 

Toltrazuril is a triazinetrione derivative used as anticoccidial agent. It is widely used in chicken, turkeys and pigs for the prevention and treatment of coccidiosis, by administration via drinking water

Tylosin Tartrate
